About Dr. Steve Olivas

As a psychologist in Private Practice, Dr. Steve has worked with children, teenagers, and their families since 1991. He truly enjoys the spontaneity, creativity, and honesty of this population. Through this work, he has developed an extensive practice helping teachers, schools and school districts; both to help manage individual clients and to conduct staff development and trainings.

Dr. Steve earned a B.S. and M.A. from The University of Wisconsin (Whitewater Campus), and culminated with a PhD in Counseling Psychology from The University of Oklahoma.

All of that after a somewhat auspicious start to his academic career, during which time he earned several infamous distinctions at St. James Elementary, Mukwonago High School, and a brief stint at Marquette University. He has tried his hand at Improvisational Comedy, has written a weekly column in Nashville’s local newspaper, and has co-hosted a popular radio show. Currently, he is lamenting the death of his dream to play for the Chicago Cubs… but remains hopeful that Heather Locklear will someday call. Dr. Steve currently lives in Tennessee with his wife, Heather (not Locklear… but close). He also has two children who, with any luck, will someday have nutty kids of their own.
